Parking Lot Prophet
Security cameras that do more than record. They understand.
The Need
A business with a large parking lot had two problems: they didn't know when their lot was busiest (making staffing decisions a guessing game), and they had no way to quickly identify vehicles that shouldn't be there — whether it was unauthorized overnight parking or vehicles flagged for other reasons.
The Fix
I connected existing security cameras to an automated license plate recognition system, then built a custom analytics dashboard on top. The system reads plates in real time, logs entry and exit times, and builds historical traffic patterns. A watchlist feature instantly flags specific plates and sends alerts. The analytics dashboard shows occupancy trends by hour, day, and season — turning a dumb security camera into a business intelligence tool.
The Result
Staffing decisions went from gut feeling to data-driven. Unauthorized vehicles got flagged within minutes instead of days. And the historical data revealed patterns nobody expected — like which events drove the most traffic and which times of year the lot sat half-empty.
